Message Holder Case

Rare ivory message case, finely carved in the round. On the body of the object the depiction of the game between two cupids and, on the cap, two doves in love in their nest, characterize it as a bearer of love messages: the servant messenger, ambassador of the lover, carried the message and awaited the response. The decoration is completed by rich floral motifs and typically baroque inserts. Beautiful example of manufacturing with a characteristic French taste, carried out by a skilled sculptor in an era that can be limited to the 18th century.
